Horrible experience

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. I originally had posted a glowing review which I had to pull down to warn other potential victims.

There were more mistakes than items correct with my order and they are not very willing to work with you. Wrong cabinets ordered due to designer, wrong crown molding, parts of the design just didn't work and half the molding shipped was so warped it looked like an S, cabinets with cracks, 3 twisted doors, 2 out of 4 glass doors were broken and they sent cabinets that they forgot to drill shelf holes in! We also have 5 doors with blemishes that they are now claiming are natural meanwhile the other 39 cabinets are blemish free and the display in store has zero blemishes but we are just forced to accept our doors with blemishes. Several of the soft close cabinets do not work( they are sending new hinges).

Due to designer error we need to reorder new cabinets which pushes my kitchen project out at least 4 weeks but we cannot even get a straight answer on this, I have been calling for 3 days to verify and I am constantly told I will have an answer in an hour well that was over 96 hours ago! What a nightmare dealing with a big corporate company, they do nothing for you. I guess they are so big they just do not care! I will be out of pocket additional money now for food and storage, not to mention my project is now on hold as contractors can not continue with all the errors, and Consumers Kitchen and bath does not seem to care.

We have requested a discount because of our issues, money back or a gift card and were told that will not be happening, according to the company they do not guarantee any sort of time line, so we are basically just stuck at this point at the companys mercy with limited answers and an unfinished kitchen. If I could do it over I would stay far from Consumers Kitchens and Baths as it has been a nightmare of an experience, one of the worst decisions I have ever made! We have also noticed that over the phone and in person they are lying straight to our face about timelines, about what has been ordered as of now. We are waiting over a week for our correct crown to be ordered.

We also have noticed that they put nothing in writing , we are emailing almost daily, with no response. We have realized that must be a part of their training so they can not be held accountable!

Ordered a vanity top and glass shower doors in November. The order was due in 2 weeks.....at 4 weeks the shower doors arrived at warehouse broken. A week later the custom vanity top arrived at my house broken. On January 11th we received a call that the shower doors arrived broken again. This has been an awful experience. Construction delayed due to Consumer Kitchen and baths. Nothing positive to say!

Approx 3months from today and still not over! I had a 30 inch vanity and top and medicine cabinet designed from consumers and it was not cheap almost 3000$. I was redoing my bath. They told me if I remember correctly because it was so long ago 3-5weeks for everything to be made. Ok. Np. I leave a deposit. The customer service calls me for delivery and final payment around the same time they said. Ok np. They tell me they have all the cabinetry for delivery and I asked about the countertop. They tell me I need to follow up with the countertop company. I said what are you talking about nobody ever told me I need to deal with the top company. I said I have no idea what you are even talking about to the appointment desk. I bought everything from you guys I said?? That is the process they said. AND SO IT BEGINS! They give me there number and my po. I call them I talk to the security. I think a day or to later they call me back and say they where waiting for final measurements and it wasn't ready. Now I'm in the middle with consumers and top company. " I " finally get it resolved. Now I'm waiting I think another 2-3 weeks for the top. Let me add at this point my bathroom is done and all that is left is the sink and med cabinet. Now while I'm waiting for the countertop to get finished consumers is literally calling me every day for final payment and delivery of the cabinets. I explained to them I didn't feel comfortable paying until everything was ready for delivery and I didn't want all the cabinets in my house for weeks. I guess that didn't work with them because they still called over and over and over. I felt a little pressured into it also. "Don't know if that was the case or the employee was just doing there job. Finally the top is delivered and everything is paid in full. I have my carpenter there to finish and plumber for hook up of the sink. Guess what the top that I went done to the store to confirm measurements was cut wrong and nothing can be finished in my bathroom until I have the countertop. Note- this is why I went to consumers and paid so much money for a 30 inch vanity set is so I didn't have these issues. I call consumers and the back and forth blame game goes on for days. Finally that gets resolved and I'm waiting for another countertop for another few weeks. AND believe it or not THIS IS Just the start! My carpenter comes one day in between the countertop being redone to finish and to hang the medicine cabinet and behold one of the pieces of trim is to short? I call consumers again they tell me they will split the problem with me and I have to pay half of the cost for the new trim. Now I'm at the point where I didn't even care the amount I just needed it finished!Against my wife I agreed. The amount of pain and suffering and MONEY I was into this 30 inch vanity / medicine cabinet was overwhelming at this point and my bathroom is still not complete months later because of consumers. Now I have to pay the carpenter and plumber more money to come back over and over to finish. Also let me add I could not have my Electrican finish his job because the med cabinet wasn't installed so he couldn't put the lighting into it. He also didn't want to make another trip without being able to complete his work. Now I wait till the new top is delivered the 2nd time I have the plumbing all done n top installed and I notice that they cut the countertop wrong AGAIN and you can see the unfinished edge of the under mount sink that they sold me. I call them again on 9/10/18 to tell them. by now you just ask for a manager of the store you are dealing with and he will be able to talk to the next guy and the next and you just wait to hear back from them. now it's 9/13/18 almost 9/14 still no response back from consumers with any resolution. Now as we sit months later from the start of this 30 inch vanity set. May I also add didn't even come with a mirror or door handles that by the time I'm done if I'm ever will be literally a small fortune and was completely not worth the aggravation this place puts you trough and I still can't believe is not over.

Great Experiance

Consumers Kitchens And Bath - Great Experiance

I had special needs and I was concerned that combining my kitchen and dining room, completely redoing both, would be overwhelming. My contractor recommended Jim Sehn at the Consumer’s Kitchen and Bath store in Commack.

Jim was excellent. The store is huge, but Jim listened to me, understood my needs and preferences, and narrowed the choices. This made things easy and, most important, he made me feel comfortable. With pictures and measurements of the rooms we constructed, on his computer, what the rooms could look like. It was shown to me on a large TV screen and printed out. Jim pointed out the items on sale. I brought it home and made some changes and brought it back.

I was relieved that it could be one stop shopping, I was able to select the countertops, backsplash, sink and faucets there and there was absolutely no pressure to do so. Jim did give valuable and important suggestions, with no pressure whatsoever.

Some important points:

1.I was never out of the loop, I was always informed but the store worked very closely with my contractor.

2.Jim gave me very accurate dates for the measurements and delivery of the cabinets, countertops and backsplash.

3.On a project this size there is always a hiccup or two and how a store responds is greatly important. My lazy Susan was a bit too lazy. I notified Jim and in just a few days a repair person was sent to access the situation, order parts and then repair it. When I was not happy with one of the borders on one backsplash, (no one fault, we thought it would look different) a crew came and adjusted it the very next day.

My only suggestion is that if you are getting new appliances, as we did, it is best to come in with their measurements and model numbers so they can be incorporated into the design.

Rude sales people, store managers. bad products

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
ordered a vanity and countert top, I was told it would be delivered in 4 weeks. they showed in 6 weeks, the sales man tried to blame me for the delay because they quoted me the wrong price on the top, and a small change to the vanity. Asked 3 times if it would delad the delivery and he said No! when the vanity and top were finally delivered the top was danaged and looked horrible. the vanitys hinges were not adjuste properly and the drawers were wobbly. I told the delivery guys to pack everyting and take it back. I called the sales man and he said they would fix everything. and get a new counter top. ffwd 3 weks later I get a call from consumer that my vanity and top are in and ready for delivery. I went to the warehouse to inspect the product before delivery. as I requested the sales man to as for me. " he never asked them to call me for a inspection" so I look at the vanity, it seemed ok, they then in packed the vanity top and it looked like someone tried to refinish it and touch up damaged areas. not horrible byt aso not acceptable at full price. I told the sales man I would deal with it with a discount. or I wanted to cancel the the order and be refunded my deposit they have had for 3 months. the sales man said he cant refund me deposit in the vanity because it was a custom order. then he started to tell me he wishes he never sold me anything because I and been a problem customer. and he also told me that nothing is perfect. and deal with the imperfection in the counter top. Now I am waiting to hear back from the their corporate office and the manufacture of the counter top and vanity.

Consumers Kitchens And Bath - Run, Run, Run away! Buyer Beware!!!
Updated by user Jan 16, 2017

Consumers has agreed to refund my money for this situation. I consider this situation to be resolved.

Original review Dec 07, 2016
Dealing with Consumers Kitchens and Baths was a terrible experience! I do believe that they are the worst company I have ever dealt with. After they sent a man to my home to measure my entire kitchen, we went back to the Copiague branch to have a design made. The salesman ordered the wrong cabinet to go over the refrigerator and every time I would question him about it, he was very elusive and would try to only correspond to me via email. I finally got them to order me a replacement cabinet, and it took two months and a lot of calling managers to get here. Almost everyone I have dealt with at this company has a very smug attitude, especially after you pay them all of the money. Every thing we were told was going to happen did not happen until I made some phone calls. They told me that the Granite contractor would show us 3 slabs of granite to choose from. That was a lie; he showed us one and said "here's your countertop". The tile contractor that came to do my backsplash bragged about doing tile for thirty years. The work they did looked like a child did it! Do yourself a favor and avoid Consumers Kitchens and Baths at all cost! Save yourself months of stress and aggravation!

Fantastic all around!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
VERY happy with service and selection....that is the short story, what the long story.....proceed.:) We redid out master bathroom. What started as a quick repair grew (as they always do) into a total renovation. We had never done a gut reno before..had no idea where to begin...so we started where most people do, roaming the isles of Home Depot and Loews. Finding sales help was then first issue, when we finally gave up, we looked at the vanities that you "build yourself"...anyone else notice how bad the quality is on the store samples? Our first thought was "These were built by people that know what they are doing, ours will be even worse!" Next, we walked to the custom cabinets, tried our luck there. A sales person hands us a booklet, shows us two pages of drawings, says we can get it in any of the colors hanging on the wall...you cant open and close drawers, feel quality of the cabinet and have to hope what you picture is what it is going to look like....NEXT!!! Next stop, a tile store that specializes in bathrooms, has 20 or so bathrooms built, ready to view, so you can see finished product. We found a vanity we really liked......$1,700.00...I kid you not, $1,700 for a vanity, not including sink or faucet hardware, all I have to say about that is...NEXT!!!! So....I( like the rest of Long Island) have been getting Consumers Kitchens and Bath flyers in my newspaper and mail for years, had never been....decided it can't hurt to take a drive. We drive to the Holbrook store, which is over an hour from our house. We walked in the door and I walked directly into the restroom. (It was an hour car ride....) By the time I had gotten out of the restroom my husband said he found two vanities he really liked. I was shocked! In 2 minutes he found something??? Score! I looked around as he lead me to the contenders....easily 30 vanities set up, in a fantastic assortment of sizes, finishes and colors. It made such a huge difference to be able to see finished products and compare apples to apples. I loved the ones he had picked out, but I walked the entire section anyway....a woman has to see all her options. What can I say....he picked my favorite too. We also found a sink ( that is my only very small complaint...the counter top /sink I like the best did not come with the option of a built in back splash, which I would have preferred. I could have picked one that did have it built in but I wanted a thicker countertop...choices...anyway) and shower door. ( I forgot to add about my Home Depot rant, they sell shower doors...but they are screwed shut so you can't slide them. How does one test the quality of a sliding door if you can't slide it?) The shower doors at Consumers? Yep, they slide.:) The sales help is not pushy at all. There was a "grab a number" type thing that you see in the deli department but there was no one waiting to be helped, so we went right to the sales desk. Our salesperson was Milton Schledorn, nice guy... Our order was $1,900....so for 200 bucks more than the fancy tile shop, we also got our sink and shower doors, fantastic quality, great style...WIN!!!! We live on the east end of Long Island, delivery was a flat $42.00!!! Fantastic!! Order placed, was told it would be about 6 weeks. No problem, put it on the calendar, I can start picking out all the other stuff that we need. (towel bars, faucets (which Consumers carries too by the way) etc.) 2 weeks later the demo has begun, contractor has a question about how the vanity will be hung. (It is a wall mount, modern, very cool) I call to ask our salesperson, maybe he will know. It was Miltons day off, I left a message on his voice mail. I did not say it was urgent because it wasn't. He called me back a few hours later...ON HIS DAY OFF! Nice! Fast forward 4 weeks later, everything is in, on time. Delivery is scheduled, driver shows up. (Places items in garage for me.) ( I tipped him 20 bucks, he was great.) I was very nervous about items arriving damaged or incorrect, boxes all arrived intact, correct items, perfect condition. Fantastic from start it finish. Did I mention they also have Kitchens??? That's a project for another day for this family. :)

Did my bathroom and kitchen

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Went to the Holbrook location and did my bathroom about a year ago, it was the only place I found a vanity that I liked, had a lot to choose from, the salesperson was very good. Did the tub, tub doors, toilet, wood vanity and beautiful marble top.

Bathroom looks great and I was very happy overall so I recently went back and ordered my kitchen. Got the kitchen completed, it was a pretty big project, cabinets, counter, appliances, floor and a window. Got it all from Consumers except the floor and window. Very happy with the design, delivery, installation, etc...

Love it. Overall the selection is the best and the service didn't disappoint.

Wrong color cabinets. stain all different shades.

Bought cabinets from East Meadow store. Cabinets came in all different shades of brown, light , dark, medium and blonde color.

Called store and they said they would reorder them. I refused to have same manufacturer. I wanted a different manufacturer. If it was send wrong the first time and they don't check orders before they leave warehouse, I don't want them.

They wanted me to pay more money since new manufacturer was more money. Really after I had to wait 8 weeks for new order and pay my contractor for cabinets he put up and them had to take down. I had to go to corporate office in Holbrook and constantly call them and ask to speak to board of directors and so on and so on. They tried to nickel and dime me over entire new order.

it was their mistake and they should eat the difference. finally came to an agreement and I got my cabinets. I would never recommend them or use them again. If you have a problem don't give up and go to corporate office in person and call them constantly.

make sure other customers in store hear you complaining.

they have such poor ratings on line now I know why. Check your invoice too , that was wrong.

Sales person was deceitful

We met with our "consultative" sales person. He was the guru of the demensions of every inch of our kitchen. The show room has a distinct focus on accessories, faucets, stand alone islands, shower heads etc. the sales person neglected to tell us that all those items are special order and not returnable. I had planned to order all these items from separate companies that I had already sourced them ready to place the orders. He pitched us on ordering these through Consumers kitchen and Bath. "So much easier as you have one only one company to deal with for your kitchen project. He even hussled us to order our appliances through his "contacts" at a less expensive price point. ( we ordered from PC Richards thank god) We ordered an expensive butcher block island which is an item I was going to order directly from BOOS the manufacturer. Guess what....it is not even close to fitting into the kitchen. So now we find out it is a "special order" an non returnable. This is a standard item found on BOOS website. He never explained any of this or why would we have ever dealt with Consumerfor these items They EXPLAIN this on the BACK of their sales order THIS IS DECEIT BY OMMISION and was never clearly explained or why would we ever have ordered from them. I WOULD NEVER DEAL WITH THESE FOLKS....they are nothing special in any case.

Holbrook, terrible service!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Horrible experience with the Holbrook location. Cabinets late countertops late.

Absolutely NO COMMITMENT to my order once the money was received. I would never use them again. What bothered me most of all was the fact that they do not tell the truth when you speak with them. I PAID THEM to design and handle my kitchen project.

I ended up scheduling MY OWN counter top installation after they screwed it up several times. ALL DELIVERY DATES were late. You could tell by speaking with the subcontractors and delivery people that there is a lot of shifty stuff going on with the company and its service. I hope this post stops at least one person from using them and ending up frustrated with them ...

like me. Poor service and liars. With the money I spent with them, they should be checking in with me to assure me all is going well.

Instead I was the one confirming, checking, and ultimately being lied to. They stink!
